Prysmian has officially announced the upcoming addition of the Alessandro Volta, a new state-of-the-art cable-laying vessel, to its fleet. Set to become operational in 2027, this new vessel will bring Prysmian’s total to eight operating ships, forming the largest cable-laying fleet in the world.
The Alessandro Volta has been designed to meet the evolving demands of the global energy transition, with enhanced capabilities to support complex submarine cable installations. As renewable energy projects, offshore wind farms, and intercontinental grid connections continue to grow, so does the need for highly advanced and reliable maritime infrastructure.
By strengthening its fleet, Prysmian is not only increasing its project execution capacity but also reinforcing its role as a key enabler of global electrification and offshore energy expansion.
This investment is a strategic move to ensure the company remains well-positioned to deliver on high-profile energy infrastructure projects across Europe, Asia, and beyond.
