Avnos Launches New Carbon Capture Facility In New Jersey

Avnos has officially launched Project Brighton, a new facility in New Jersey designed to capture 450 tons of carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere each year. Supported by the U.S. Office of Naval Research, the site functions as an integrated hub that simultaneously generates 475,000 gallons of clean water without requiring external heat sources. By repurposing captured CO2 to produce sustainable aviation fuel, the project offers a scalable solution for emission reduction. This operational milestone provides critical performance data to support future commercial deployments and highlights the company’s progress in addressing interconnected energy and environmental challenges.

Located on Milltown Road, the facility serves as a central campus for research, testing, and product development. Will Kain, the founder and CEO of Avnos, noted that Project Brighton represents the company’s largest deployment to date, proving its capacity to deliver infrastructure at scale. Local officials, including the Somerset County Business Partnership, have welcomed the project as a significant investment in regional technology and infrastructure.

Building on the success of this site, Avnos is already advancing toward its next initiative, Project Cedar. Backed by up to $17 million in financing, this upcoming project will utilize four capture modules engineered for rapid construction and easier scaling. The company’s broader efforts are supported by over $100 million in funding from major organizations, including the U.S. Department of Energy, Shell, Mitsubishi, and JetBlue Ventures. These developments underscore a growing commitment to refining carbon capture technology for practical applications in fuel production and industrial emission management.
