Italian Startup GEVI Wind Secures $3.1 Million for AI Turbines

An Italian startup, GEVI Wind, has recently obtained $3.1 million in seed funding to accelerate the production of its advanced, AI-driven vertical micro wind turbines. These innovative turbines are designed to optimize energy output by dynamically adjusting their blades in response to real-time wind conditions. The funding, led by venture capital firms including 360 Capital and CDP Venture Capital, will facilitate a shift from prototyping to industrial production aimed at improving small-scale wind energy efficiency.

GEVI Wind’s micro wind turbines, which stand approximately 9.8 feet tall with a rotor diameter of 17.7 feet, are poised to address the limitations of conventional systems. The cutting-edge design boasts a proprietary AI control that alters the blade angles every few milliseconds, depending on various factors such as wind speed and direction. This real-time adaptation not only enhances energy production—yielding up to 60% more energy than standard vertical-axis turbines—but also minimizes mechanical stress during high winds, potentially reducing maintenance needs.

The whisper-quiet turbines are built to operate at wind speeds as low as 8.2 feet per second, generating three to five kilowatts of power, making them suitable for both urban and semi-rural applications. Designed for easy installation without cranes and requiring minimal upkeep, these turbines aim to serve decentralized energy systems efficiently. Emanuele Luzzati, the company’s founder and CEO, stressed that this funding allows them to scale their innovative technology and advance toward a more sustainable energy future.

Established in 2022, GEVI Wind plans to use the newly acquired capital not only to commence the mass production of these turbines but also to enhance its AI algorithms and create future models. The startup envisions a future in which clean wind energy is readily available in residential and remote locations, allowing energy production to occur directly at the point of consumption. “Our goal is to create an accessible and efficient wind power model that blends seamlessly into everyday life,” remarked GEVI Wind.
