GoSun Launches Solar Powered Electric Tractor For Sustainable Farming

Ohio-based GoSun has partnered with Indian manufacturer Moonrider to introduce an electric tractor designed to serve as a sustainable alternative to traditional diesel-powered machinery. This new vehicle integrates high-torque electric performance with an optional solar array, providing a cleaner, more cost-effective solution for agricultural tasks and property management. By utilizing renewable energy, the tractor helps reduce operational expenses while minimizing environmental impact. The companies aim to modernize small-scale farming by offering a versatile, eco-friendly machine that allows land managers to harness solar power directly for their daily operations.

The tractor is powered by a 24 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which delivers approximately five hours of operation on a single charge. Users can replenish the battery using a standard 220 V AC connection or supplement the power with an optional 1.1 kW solar array, which adds roughly 1.5 hours of runtime under sunny conditions. Furthermore, the vehicle can function as a mobile power station for electric tools when equipped with an optional power generator, enhancing its utility for field work.

Built for durability and performance, the tractor features four-wheel drive and a rated power output of 27 hp. It measures 2.78 meters in length, 1.04 meters in width, and 2.27 meters in height, with a total weight of 1,095 kg. The machine is equipped with a constant-mesh transmission offering nine forward and three reverse speeds, along with a rear power take-off (PTO) that provides 22.8 hp. With a 750 kg lifting capacity, a 1.58-meter wheelbase, and a tight 1.4-meter turning radius, the tractor is engineered to navigate diverse terrain while maintaining operational efficiency.
