China to Build 100 MW Solar Power Plant in Kyrgyzstan

Kemin, Kyrgyzstan — In a significant step toward enhancing Kyrgyzstan’s energy infrastructure, China has begun construction of a 100 MW solar power plant in the city of Kemin, located in the Chuy Region. The project underscores Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to sustainable energy development and environmental preservation.

The solar plant, once operational, is expected to generate 155 million kWh of electricity annually, contributing to the country’s energy needs while reducing reliance on fossil fuels. By saving approximately 50,000 tons of coal per year, the project will significantly cut greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, the construction is set to create employment opportunities for 500 workers, further boosting the local economy.

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Adylbek Kasymaliev, highlighted the project’s importance in advancing Kyrgyzstan’s renewable energy goals. This initiative complements other ongoing projects, including the 400 MW solar plant under construction in Issyk-Kul and major hydroelectric ventures such as Kambar-Ata HPP-1 and Kulanak HPP.

With these investments, Kyrgyzstan continues to prioritize renewable energy as a pathway to achieving economic growth and environmental sustainability. The 100 MW solar power plant in Kemin is a testament to the nation’s forward-thinking energy strategy.
