A Bristol-based innovator, Prolectric, has introduced its most powerful solar battery energy storage system yet, dubbed the ProCharge BESS. This 120 kWh lithium-ion battery pack aims to reduce dependency on diesel generators for large-scale construction projects and high-demand applications. The hybrid-ready system boasts low noise levels, making it suitable for nighttime use in residential areas, and offers the capability to support electric machinery, thereby promoting a cleaner and more efficient construction site.
ProCharge BESS is engineered specifically for the energy needs of ambitious construction and infrastructure projects. Initially piloted on Kier’s A417 Missing Link Project, the system demonstrated significant real-world savings with a prototype comprising fewer panels. The upgraded version, now featuring a 12-panel array, enhances both power and efficiency. Additionally, Prolectric’s focus on sustainability is evident, as ProCharge integrates seamlessly with diesel generators to create a hybrid power environment that utilizes solar energy as the primary source with diesel serving as a backup.
The system is designed with the flexibility to manage various energy demands, making it particularly effective in powering remote cabins, compounds, and temporary electrical setups. ProCharge’s innovative design facilitates remote monitoring through an integrated controller and GPS tracking, giving site teams enhanced control and insight into their energy usage. Emphasizing off-grid capability, this solution can operate without relying solely on grid power or generators, leveraging solar charging to minimize fuel dependency and environmental impact. With potential applications across multiple areas, Prolectric’s new offering is poised to transform energy consumption within the construction sector, fostering a cleaner and more sustainable working environment.
