Musician and entrepreneur Will.i.am has introduced the Trinity EV, a sophisticated three-wheeled micro-mobility vehicle featuring a dedicated AI assistant. Showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show, the single-passenger electric vehicle is designed as “brains on wheels,” prioritizing a seamless software experience over autonomous driving. By integrating advanced sensors and conversational intelligence, the Trinity aims to handle the logistical “mental load” of urban travel. With production focused on a limited initial run, this project represents a shift toward compact, hyper-connected urban transport intended to reduce city congestion and energy consumption.
The Trinity vehicle distinguishes itself by placing an “agentic” AI at the core of its design. Unlike many modern EVs that focus on self-driving capabilities, Will.i.am’s creation remains firmly non-autonomous, keeping the joy of driving in the hands of the user. The AI serves as a proactive digital host, capable of executing complex multi-step tasks such as finding parking, notifying contacts of arrival times, and logging travel expenses. This system utilizes a suite of cameras and sensors to monitor surroundings, allowing the assistant to provide real-time alerts regarding pedestrians, traffic lights, and local landmarks.
To bring this vision to life, the entrepreneur collaborated with industry leaders across various sectors. The vehicle’s processing power is provided by Nvidia GPUs, while the physical build and design were handled by the renowned car modification firm West Coast Customs. Crucially, the self-balancing technology—essential for the three-wheeled configuration—was developed by DEKA Research & Development, the company famous for its work on the Segway. Manufacturing is slated to take place in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, reinforcing a commitment to American-made technology.
In terms of performance, the Trinity boasts impressive specifications for a micro-mobility platform. It offers a range of approximately 241.4 kilometers on a single charge and can reach a top speed of 193.1 kilometers per hour. Acceleration is equally striking, with the vehicle capable of reaching 96.5 kilometers per hour in less than two seconds. The slim, weatherproof cabin features climate control and a studio-grade audio system, providing a premium environment within a compact footprint.
Will.i.am envisions the Trinity as an alternative to the oversized SUVs that currently dominate urban roads. By “right-sizing” vehicles to their specific trips, he believes cities can become more human-scale and less congested. The company plans to produce an initial limited-edition run of 500 units, with the first deliveries scheduled for August 2027. This launch follows the artist’s long history in the tech space, including previous ventures into wearables and academic roles focusing on the future of artificial intelligence.
