Europeans View Clean Energy As Vital For Regional Security

Recent polling conducted across five major European nations reveals that a significant majority of citizens view the transition to clean energy as a vital component of regional security. Approximately 64% of respondents believe that cutting reliance on imported fossil fuels is essential for making Europe safer. Furthermore, 80% of those surveyed advocate for increased cooperation between European countries, with many emphasizing that such collaboration is increasingly critical given the current geopolitical climate. These findings suggest that the shift toward electrification is no longer a partisan issue but a shared priority for achieving long-term stability and independence.

The data, commissioned by E3G, T&E, and the Electrification Alliance, indicates that the public is ready to move away from the volatility and economic fragility associated with fossil fuel dependence. By framing the clean energy transition as a project of collective safety and prosperity rather than a regulatory burden, European leaders have a unique opportunity to build a unified political narrative. As citizens demand greater security, maintaining a reliance on external energy sources is becoming an increasingly difficult position to defend, paving the way for electrification to become a mainstream, non-partisan objective across the continent.
